Default New member, clutch judder!

Hi,

Firstly, I'm new on here but I purchased my Volvo Feb '13. It's a S60 D5 SE 56 reg manual, had 69k on the clock when I got it and its now got 89k. Sometimes there is a clutch judder when cold. Doesn't last too long and isn't too bad, something I can live with for the time being.

Searching on here it sounds like it could need a new clutch and dmf. Have been quoted £800 by an independent specialist, which seems very reasonable, that also includes the slave cylinder.

Will probably see if it gets worse over the coming months. Plan on keeping the car for a few years so don't mind getting it done if its needed.

£800 is probably fair, the main dealer round here quoted £550 incl vat for the labour, the inependent was £420 incl' vat. Both plus the price of the clutch, I bought a volvo clutch which discounted was £750 incl vat, about the same as europarts for an LUK, incidently, my clutch from the dealer came in a sealed bag in a Volvo box and had both LUK and Valeo stamped on the friction plate, just make sure whoever fits it uses a quality clutch. I did mine myself, it's a chunk of work, I think I'd pay an independent if I had to do another one. If that is £800 all in, I'd say that is reasonable, good luck, and they are worth the expense, brilliant cars.
