Did anybody eliminated or manage to solve the famous clunk from P to R or D to R? I have all my engine mounts new. new ping bolts (torqued to 50 nm (i have the xc90 ones)). THE CLUNK STILL CONTINUES..... Many Thanks |

Check if the subframe bolts are torqued correctly.

A bloke on another board just looked it up on the torque table.
He reports 100Nm + 120º. |

Could your issue be related to a vacum hose or air hose that reaches a level and leaks.
There is a slight movement of the engine on the pop sound, isn't one of the engine mounts air damped? |

Could be just worn CV joints?

I am going to replace the wishbones and tie rods...I might also do the cv joins.....could that be the reason? And also why after warm everything e you stop you can feel the first gear engaging , there is no clunk just the motion.....

I guess the wheels of the car were steady?
The inner CV housing turns quite a bit when the gear is engaged so that would suggest a play in the CV joints.
