Default s60 whine

hello everyone I have a 53 plate s60 d5, great car apart from the present problem I had what I thought was a wheel bearing whine, seemed to be coming from nearside ,anyway decided to change both fronts , noise stiil continued sometimes worse than others ,constant noise ,like a tube train ,next I thought the bearing on the offside driveshaft ,seemed likely ,put in a new shaft ,noise still there ,infact seemed slightly worse ,noise is constant even if you turn the steering hard left or right. Now I have seen posts before about this but with no real conclusive answers,,,is there something im missing here ,thinking the worst could it be diff bearings?any help would be great, maybe one of the bearings was faulty when I bought it ,,,really cant put my finger on it ,,sometimes noise seems more on the offside ,then it seems more on the nearside ,guess the noise is travelling helppppp please

Could well be tyre noise, exacerbated by wheels alignment problems, that's what fixed it for me!

These cars have camber adjustment as well as front toe, and rear toe is adjustable too, so alignment issues are often poorly understood. Whilst there's no guarantee of success, it might be worth a punt to get a professional 4 wheel alignment done, by somebody with Hunter system who knows how to use it. The word 'professional' obviously excludes the High Street chains.

You could try and find somebody via http://alignmycar.co.uk

Other clues that wheel alignment might be the issue would be off-centre steering, someties pulling to one side, or 'crabbing' when going in a straight line.
