Default Bluetooth

2009 V70 R Design

Can I do this if so how because I can't work it out:

My phone has Bluetooth and from what I can see on the net my car is supposed to as well but I can't find it. There are no console/steering wheel buttons to do with 'phone' and there are no options to do with 'phone or Bluetooth' on the radio/info display in the middle of the console.

I am not interested in being able to play music from the phone I am trying to work out if I can get the phone's satnav directions over the car speakers.

Is this even possible? If I actually do not have Bluetooth will a USB Bluetooth adapter do the trick?

What version of stereo do you have?

If you have bluetooth, it will be an option in the stereo menu.

I admit it is not helpful having phone icons on the basic stereo when there is no phone fitted and no bluetooth!

Normally have the buttons on the steering wheel. Do you have the aux input in the centre console? If so can buy a cheap Bluetooth kit that plugs in the aux socket but that would mean switching to aux and be able to listen to music etc unless the phone was playing it.

I had a Bury all singing dancing Bluetooth unit fitted with its own amp etc, if using the phone for sat nav or speed camera etc the music from the car radio is muted and the sat nav directions etc come over the speakers and when done the car radio comes back to life.

Photo's attached showing what I have and there is definitely no option in the stereo menu for either phone or Bluetooth.

I do not mind if I can't listen to the radio at the same time as I never have it on and I will never play music from the phone. (I do not want to also use it as a hands-free phone and it is a Lumia 930 Windows 10 if that makes any difference)

I have both the USB and Aux adapters in the center console.

Get an AUX cable to connect your phone to the AUX socket on your car. Press the "MODE" button on your stereo. The satnav on your phone will output through the stereo, but you cant listen the radio or CD at the same time.

I use Google maps on my Android phone and it plays loud enough through the phone speaker that you don't need to put it through the car's speakers.

P.S. You don't have bluetooth on your car.

I believe the presence of the My Key button means you don't have built in phone or Bluetooth option, otherwise it would have button labeled Phone.

Thanks everyone, I shall have a play over the next few days and post up the results.

A friend of mine has one of those Bluetooth Aux things which I can test to see if it will do what I am trying to do.

I will also try it with a cable from the USB in the center console as that might even work and charge the phone battery at the same time.

I was trying to avoid cables but hey ho life is full of compromises.

As Simon said, if you had Bluetooth you would have PHONE instead of MY KEY and would also have to more buttons on the steering wheel. The USB only allows the car to treat a phone as an external hard drive to play music files.

Hi,

My S80 has both an internal phone (with SIM) and the associated keys on the steering wheel.
It also has bluetooth and there is an additional Dealer installed pad specifically for the phone when connected to bluetooth...
Try searching from your phone when bluetooth is on to see if you can see the cars bluetooth.

Des. . .
