EGR valve connector problem
Hi, I have a Volvo V70 58 plate 2.4D that has had a new EGR valve over a year ago. The car keeps going into low power mode with an error showing EGR valve signal error. This normally occurs when I go over bumps / any dips in the road. It had happened twice on the motorway, dual carriageway and now on country roads. I have Volvo assist through servicing and each time they come out it says the same error message. They do something to the connector pins / reset and the car will be fine again. This time it hasn’t lasted very long only a few weeks before it’s gone into reduced power mode again. Has anyone had this before the tech guide said it would be a couple of grand for a wiring loom / connector. Do you have to buy the complete wiring loom or can a new connector be fitted onto the existing wiring. The tech also said that he had notice the pins were wearing thin and getting hot. Thanks

Hi
I have changed some wiring plug pins on my V50 on the CEM and accelerator pedal. Volvo did some repair terminals which consist of a new terminal pin on about 6" of wire. They do various repair terminals and I wouldn't be surprised if they did some for that plug. Worth asking a volvo parts department, some are better than others!! To see if they do the correct repair terminals. The parts department can get the information from Sweden quite quickly. Then just a matter of removing old pins from the plug, cutting the wire and soldering on the new wire and terminal. Sometimes easier to get a new plug housing as well. The new pins can be connected to the loom and then just pushed into the correct hole in the new plug. Worth an ask.
