Good quality Sat Nav with Bluetooth

Hi all,

I'm looking for a Bluetooth handsfree calling solution for our S40. I feel Volvo's dealer offer of £350 is way too steep.

Then I thought of a good quality Sat Nav (as many now incorporate Bluetooth calling). Again, Volvo's factory option is £400 at least!

Can anyone recommend an excellent Sat Nav for in or around £200? (UK/Ireland/Europe mapping with speed camera alerts would also be great).

Not sure about the Sat Nav - I have a tom tom one - cost £70.00 and it has the ability for phone connection but I don't use it.

However I am having an I O play system fitted to my S40, cost £130 fitted and it means I can connect any device sat nav,ipod or phone via bluetooth.
All sound then goes through the cars speaker system.

Many thanks Ant - (I lost internet for a few months, and just got back online) The I O looks like a neat solution - Did you get yours fitted? And are you happy with the results?

Yeah its a great system. I would suggest buying one new off ebay and then ask a car electrical place to fit it / or fit it yourself etc

I have been using the iO-Play system for a while now, excellent bit of kit, whilst the Sat Nav units can be used as handsfree the quality and reliability of a Nav unit for calls isn't anywhere near as good as the iO-Play. Have a look at my blog for some details on fitting it and a Nav unit plus powered phone holder to my V70 it might give you some ideas.

As for price, e-bay is the cheaper way to purchase the iO-Play, This being about the cheapest on their at the moment for a straight purchase rather than bidding.

@anton77 your TomTom One does have Bluetooth and will accept a connection to a mobile phone but only for a data connection to connect to the TT server for information such as Traffic/ Weather/ Buddies etc, bear in mind some of these extra services need a subscription and you will also incur carges via your mobile phone service provider for the data traffic. Something from the TomTom Go range will act as a HandsFree device, but the iO-Play will outperform it every time in my opinion - Mike
