It's too big and does not actually fit in the XC90. Something to do with the turbo's I think.

The next generation XC90 (2012) will most likely benefit from the twin turbo D5 (or better?!).

I also totally fail to understand why heated windscreen has not become an industry standard. Coming from a Ford houshold, my first heated windscreen ford was a fiesta XR2i in 1987 !, thats nearly 25 years ago. I always assumed it was because Ford just kept the patent and refused to licence it. It is without doubt the single best winter accessory any car could have.

Of course with Volvo, I see in the XC60 manual that they do a separate screen blower heater as an option in some countries, which is probably far better again, so perhaps for countries that they deem need that type of accessory they just put that on the option list.

With regard to the auto wipers, again in Ford they work better. When its on, it stays on even when the igintion is turned off, so wipers come on automatically when it starts to rain. The Volvo implementation, where you actually have to switch them on every time is a lot less useful.

But I think we are start to move off topic here !

Other than this, the S60 dash looks identical to the XC60.

Blast, bit more than a software update then I cannot see the XC60 getting this as it would mean that the pod they have for the radio/phone/music would be useless meaning that Volvo would need to retool for the XC60 production and that costs a LOT of money

May be that we will get an updated satnav interface in the next release though (not that the current is bad , despite what others say!)

Yes, they do.

Ford wants to re-negotiate the sale price (according to Swedish media).

Dealer 'A' whom I ordered the XC60 Drive R design is certain I canot get the 2.4D any more and the D3 or D5 are the only diesels available for the XC60.
Dealer 'B' I spoke to yesterday said 'order from me now for a new car in August and I can get you a 2.4D engine'. (Huh ! dealer promises eh).
Dealer 'C', I just came off the phone from, says dealer 'A' is right. The 2.4 is no longer available.
He confirmed a (D3), 2.0D at 163BHP with 154 CO2 figures in the same (new) VED banding as the 2.4D will be in the Drive version. No Dealers have the vehicle specs as it seems they have yet to be produced, (along with the car). No MPG figures and no test drives either. By the time there is a car on the forecourt to test drive and 4-5 months order time, it could be nearly Xmas.

I think I will look at 2nd hand ex demos again. They made so many promises of the best deal with a newby. At the moment, my order is still in for June delivery, but it is not the 2.4 and though I trust Volvo cars to get it right 99% of the time,I usually look for (customer) tried and tested models.

Did you leave a deposit on the 2.4 model because I am wondering how one stands with a dealer under such circumstances with the model change being significant?

Maybe need to read my small print too!

From 155Mph:
Contractually, no. They may withdraw a product and offer a full refund. They may offer an alternative product, but they are certainly not contractually bound to supply what is stated in the agreement. Honour? Now that's something completely different, but we are talking car sales here.
!
I thought that you might be able to negotiate but as he says if they offer an alternative which I think is in lots of contracts or your money back then they are free and clear. It's really annoying but what can you do. You obviously want a car and going for another premium make may delay your new car even further.

We have the spec changes for the SE but not the others. Do we assume that the S & SE Lux spec remains unchanged or have we just not yet been told what the spec changes are for the other trims? If so it does make ordering difficult!

I have searched around & other than "R Design" changes cannot find anything about the the S or SELux. I am particularily interested in the S.
