Roughly how far in advance did those ordering a new Volvo get their VIN?

And did the car show up in the Volvo app?

Estimates for our incoming XC90 were 3rd/4th week in April. Have just received an email to get the "deposit" ready (thought I'd paid that at time of order) and that the last chance for trade in is approaching.

So it sounds close. Will need VIN for the reg transfer etc and would be nice if it's progress could be checked.

I can answer my own question now for future ref should anyone want it

I received the VIN approx. 3wks before the car was delivered to the dealer, and approx. 4 weeks before I collected it.

The car didn't show up in the app ahead of this, so the progress of the build couldn't be tracked there. As soon as the VIN was available it showed the correct car in the app, but nothing much could be done as you need to be with the car to initiate the app connection.

Hi Murphy,

Out of curiosity was yours a factory / configured build or a pre configured build that is typically available as 'stock' on their website . How long did it take from order to delivery for you and was it in line with the indicative timeline when you placed this order?

Build was to my spec.... Though there isn't a massive choice of options (Blond interior and towbar were the two biggies that preconfigured cars didn't typically have).

Thought I'd put the dates in both of my threads...but didn't. Sooooooo.....

11wks from order placed to collection. Technically could have been 10wks (1wk extra between delivery to dealer and collection).

At point of order the suggestion was 3-5mths. 12wks was noted withing a couple of weeks of ordering, then it settled at 10-11wks

I guess we are all different but I had no interest in it. Rang the dealer a couple of times after I ordered my Volvo and it came as described. I picked it up and still have it. Mind I let the Sim lapse after a year and the App after four years as I have no need for them either. Still a great car!

I was only interested in timeframes as a means of me being able sort other aspects (insurance, reg transfer etc) well ahead of time.

Whether the app remains long term useful or not I'll see. Preconditioning a electric/phev car should see better range as well as more comfortable temps. Other app functions will be less useful.

Thanks this is super helpful. Just in terms of delivery to dealer, would it be fair to assume thats when the car is registered although in your case, it sounds like you were transferring registration. This will be my first purchase (have previously leased vehicles) and hence trying to bottom out the process.

It was broadly around that time when it was registered, yes.

Volvo UK were also pretty helpful (volvo-support@volvocars.com).
