Rear seat headrest
Hi all
I put up the two rear seats (third row) and upon putting them back down again, one of them won't release the headrest, which is meant to release & fold down automatically when you pull the seat back down. I've tried it up & down a few times now with no joy, any ideas what this could be? Don't want to force it and break something TIA |

You do need to be assertive with them, and you must make sure they are fully up before you fold them down.

Will the seat fold at all or is it just the headrest not releasing?
If the former you haven't got the seat base fully pushed back into its slot Otherwise I can't help |

Hi have you tried putting your finger up the back of the headrest follow the metal part up and there is a plastic part at the top if you push this down when the seat is halfway fo;ded forward it should release the headrest

it's the inside headrest post on mine that needs to be pressed it should be automatic but does not work it takes a while to work out but once you get a feel for it it's easy

Well, I couldn't find anything up in the headrest which will release it, so took the carpet off back of the seat off & this exposed the release catch below the headrest, which you can just see at the top of the seat, I gave it a press down with the screw driver and down the head reast came, so at least it's down for now, albeit not fixed.
I can see a bowden cable coming out of the bottom of the seat, which I'm assuming is the cable for the headrest release catch, so it's either broken or something else I don't know. I can't get access to it so far as the metal seat back is welded. So, if anyone else gets this problem just remove the seat back carpet and press on the lever to get the headrest down, the seat doesn't have to half way up or down for this, I found it easiest with the seat up and going at it from the boot area. To remove the carpet seat back, it's 2 torx screws at the bottom, then the top has two rings which sit on dowels inside, push the back up and it will come away from those too. |
