I'm aware that it costs big money, but I think the way that cost is passed to the customer by the industry is bad for the customer...they feel ripped off. It should be buried in the main labour rate, like other costs.

Offer free diagnostics (unless we're talking hours...), and it builds up a positive relationship. Very, very few customers will walk away without spending some money (whether on labour or parts).

The current system just "feels" wrong, as a customer.

I am closer if you want codes read ect but you cant programme without paying volvo for the software.

My stereo backlight has gone out,steering wheel volume controls not working,central locking playing up,drivers window playing up & now stuck fully down.after looking through the forums think i need steering control module re-programmed.Volvo want £78 to hook it up then £15-£40 for software then £31.50 for labour & cant do it for 3wks & with our great british weather i think the car will be full of water by then.lol.If you could diagnose it would be a great help,at least i would no what the problem was.
