The local auto electrical will probably make £60 on top if done through them
£800 would be for a brand new one.

Still feels expensive for the repair and will consider alternatives.

If it works, the lowest cost may be to switch internal cartridges from a like for like model. I can get a second hand one for approx. £120. I realise the risk here is that I don't know the extent of wear and tear.

Im told that when a cartridge from a different model is used, this may not work so I need clarification about whether the switch of cartridge from a like for like model would work?

I am still interested in alternatives. Looked briefly at the PURE DAB, but in my opinion does not look as neat as the normal display in the c70 and questions arise over am/fm line in, use of existing aerial. Not decided on this yet.

Im told there may be a clarion option but don't know of details yet.

The Delphi Ive not looked at yet. Not sure about the soldering. Will this work with the MOST system switched on as no local Volvo specialist will touch unless it does.
that is a bit steep considering you can buy the cartridge for £28 from USA .

Hi clan,
Wow that is a striking difference to replace the whole internal cartridge for £28. Do you have a link or anything. I assume if you swap the internal cartridge with a new or identical one, it should work?

Thanks again for your help

You would need to fit your circuit board to the new changer or just use the new changer's parts to fix your broken changer .

Thanks for the link, very useful. I will order when I can clarify another problem I have !

Trouble is I now have another problem.

When I reconnected my cd changer the volume does not work.
The radio scans, picks up stations, the pre-sets are still there, the volume scale increases and decreases, but absolutely no sound evident!

The company that tested the changer said they did not dismantle it, merely put some power through it to see if the mechanism would work. that's all. they said what they did would not have caused this problem and thus accept no responsibility for this problem.

I have all the relevant displays and given that the display looks normal, I doubt that it is any broken cables.

how do I establish if this is inside the unit or in the amp which is in the back of the car?

Once I establish the cause and options, this will determine whether it is worth ordering a replacement cartridge !

Any further thoughts on this would be useful.
