General: - Steering failure message

Hi
On S40 / 2.4 '04 I'm getting this message. "Immobilizer" "Steering Failure Service Required" . The power steering fluid level is fine and there are no signs of leakage.

It could be the electric steering lock , does the column lock and unlock when you take the key out? You will need the codes reading to guide you to the exact fault ...

Hi , yes look it is more related to the steering wheel lock system and electronic key and not the power steering system. I am sending it to the service dealer.

want to hear the end of the story? As my friend Clan diagnosed it had the column locked. The local Volvo dealer in Puerto Rico is charging me $942 for the repair! This car is '04 but it is less than 50K miles. The warranty is expired. Someone knows if there is a way to get some coverage$$ by Volvo for this car that is not that old?
