Volvo Techs in the USA (claimed to be but obviously it's a forum) on Swedespeed claim that as per my previous post the voltage is very slightly dropped on setting 0 when the cars daylight sensor is detecting daylight. I, for one, believe them for the following reason. If I have my lights set to 0 in daylight and drive into my office garage that isn't lit inside (therefore my radio display is currently black on green AKA 'daylight mode') and I wait for the radio display to invert to 'night mode'... at the very instant the radio display inverts the headlight beam on the garage wall ahead becomes noticeably brighter. In dipped beam position when the radio inverts there is no change in the brightness. I did this test after I read the posts on Swedespeed saying that the voltage was lower in position 0 during daylight. I can say for sure that I have blown the sum total of no bulbs in the last 11 months since I stopped using the dipped beam on position during the day. Prior to that I blew headlamp bulbs no less often than every 3-6 months.
