Default discs and pads

Hi,

just a quick question for the techies out there. After you remove the wheel, pads and calipers for front and rear brakes is there anything holding the brake discs in place?? or are they only held in place by the wheel assemblies.

I am wanting to do pads and discs together next time around.

Cheers,

asuk.

Dunno about yours but my V70 has a thin stud screwed through the disc into the hub. I took that out then tapped the old discs off.
Yours could be the same , maybe, possibly

Nothing on the front's apart from some serated washers over the wheel studs. The discs came off without much effort with no hub corrosion sticking them after 65k. The pads on the piston side are held onto the cylinder with spring clips which just slip inside the hollow cylinder - no tools needed, can be changed by hand.

If changing pads only, you need to undo the two HT bolts under the two grommets facing you to remove the outer section of the caliper. You will need to push in the piston to allow the new pads to be fitted. The pads are held in place by the spring.
To remove the disc, you will have to remove the two bolts on the inside of the caliper. The disc is held in place by the wheel only.
When you have undone the caliper, don't forget to support it to avoid damage to the hydraulic pipe!
