BOGOF Buy the 2005 XC70 for £2995, get a 2007 S60 FREE!!
Hi all
As some of you maybe aware, I have severe health issues and my life has been severely limited by a botched operation. Therefore, I have had to think ahead, for the sake of my wife, by buying her a nearly new car (PHEV) with autonomous braking, etc and a 7 year warranty, etc. This is in case the worse comes to the worse, most probably within the next 6 months. Either way, I am going to be very ill and continue being housebound or hospitalised for the next 12 months. So, bearing that in mind, I am selling both our metallic blue 2005 XC 70 D5 auto (163 BHP) with cream leather and the 2007 S60 D5 auto (185 BHP) with cream leather. The XC70 was MOT’d today (13 months MOT) and passed with one advisory of worn front brake pads. It has a genuine 116,000 miles on it and a good service history. The S60 is MOT’d to April 2021 and has been used as the family 2nd car for many years. (My son and then me) It has approx 193,000 genuine miles on the clock. It has not been used for some time as I have been ill since January of this year. I am looking at £2995 for the XC70 and you get the S60 for free. I will post some more pics tomorrow if I feel well enough. Both can obviously be driven away. I am in Norfolk. The XC70 had a bit of a gearbox thump when I bought it, going down from 2nd to 1st, but I did a Gibbons method auto gearbox oil change with 9 litres of Mannoil off ebay not so long ago. It has improved the gearbox immensely and is improving all the time. So I guess it is relearning the driving style? The temporary anti skid warning comes on randomly, but my garage says the only codes related to the ABS, etc is a random communication error. But doesn’t point to anything specific. It doesn’t show on the dash warning lights and is not an MOT failure. The usual alarm warning comes on randomly, but we all live with that. I think I removed the fuse. As I have not got the health or the time to look into it anymore. I can include another 10 litres of gearbox oil in the sale. If I was healthy with a better prognosis, I would NOT be selling either car as I am a long term Volvo owner and love them. I am ex aircraft engineer and COULD (up to 10 months ago) fix most stuff. Unfortunately, my time of life is now and I have to think of the future for my wife’s sake. Hence the new car. I have more info, which I will post. However, the important bits from memory are that BOTH cars have had their cam belts and aux belts plus tensioners replaced. The XC70 had a new alternator not so long ago plus 2 new front tyres. The S60 had 4 new shock absorbers fitted too. If anyone is interested in these TWO at £2995 for BOTH, please private message me. I have included screen grabs of the recent MOT’s for each car shown below. Thanks for your time and regards. XC70 S60 Last edited by palwing; Nov 19th, 2020 at 19:34. |

More info and pics to come when I am feeling better.
By the way. I just noticed the airbag light is on in one of the pics, however, it is NOT on, I just took the photo before the light went out. There is NO airbag problem, as shown in the other photos. Thanks for watching. Regards. Last edited by palwing; Nov 20th, 2020 at 12:42. |

Hi. Apologies for the lack of an update, but I have been unwell again. I will try and post some pictures of the service booklets and receipts soon.
By the way...offers will be considered too. Regards |

Hi mate,
Firstly I'm very sorry to hear about your personal circumstances. I hope things begin to look up for you soon. As a fellow engineer I'm interested in taking on these cars - hopefully I'll be able to look after them and keep them going for many more miles! I've a young family (one baby and another on the way) so am looking to replace our current car (mk2 Megane) with something a bit bigger and more practical for our lifestyle - the XC70 fits the bill. The S60 would be something I'd service and then hand on to my in-laws, who are in need of a replacement car themselves. I appreciate that seeing a message from a "new" forum member rings alarm bells - I have plenty history on a mountain biking forum "singletrackworld" under the same username if you want to take a look. I apologise but I can't send PMs until I've posted 30 times, hence the public reply! Feel free to drop me an email on username@hotmail.com, or if you'd prefer to have a chat over the phone let me know and I'll pass on my number. All the best, Paul Last edited by poltheball; Nov 25th, 2020 at 14:05. |
