Hi guys and girls i have got the above lights on so i took my 850 to Parkside volvo and they said i have the following fault codes:

abs 314
abs 324
abs 141
and just got back from there today after them doing the tbn but now i got as well abs 443
they want £284 + vat for a new ECU but this might not sort the problem so then its £775 + vat for hydralic unit. so £1000. + vat just to play a hunch.

Just buy a soldering iron and resolder the dry joints on the connector plug within the ecu. It is a very common fault on '96 onwards cars.
If you are not sure about doing this try and contact 'Wobbly Dave' who visits this forum and he'll do it for you.
Top engine mounts are cheap enough from the main stealer or get one from www.eurocarparts.co.uk
The guy in this thread had the same problem the other day if you read through all the replies..

He has stated that there was a tbn for the ebd pressure switch which is where my fault is . so hopefully will get repaier for free but may have to complain to volvo directly so once again guys and girls THANKS you have saved me over a grand

Jeez! My local Volvo mai dealer wanted about £500 to change the ABS ECU!!
I thought that all volvo dealers had to work on the same pricing structures?????

Anyone here work for a main dealer can answer that??

Richie.

Hi Guys, not wanting to cause any ructions on slating companies but yet again it seems to be the old "think of a number" kind of syndrome, depending where you live in the UK.
I have first hand dealings of, as ashamed as I am of sending my wife to my local dealer to check out a lambda light that I sort of knew to be the front O2 sensor.....
I called and it was oooh book it in and we will see what the fault is ( £55+ vat later), or send your wife down and give it the... oh this light came on and I'm a little worried etc and low and behold 3 mechanics and a manager type guy running rings and all codes read and safely sent on her way.
Who says feminisom sucks.. worked for me - ish!

I don't work for a main dealer, just had dealings with them. All the prices are different at different dealers. What could be £500+Vat at one dealer could be £360+Vat at another!

£284 + Vat for an ECU is cheap and £500 inc Vat is about "right".

Blimey!! I suppose it pays to phone around the dealers then.
Maybe tell them one price and see if they can beat it.
