Anything is possible and I'm sure there are aftermarket spoilers available. Have you had a look on YouTube so see how to remove and fit the spoiler? I'd start there.

You're up against it trying to this sadly. I can completely appreciate why you want to. I bought an SE trim T5 purely to get the lip spoiler then retrofitted the lower bodykit to get the look I wanted.

If you have a look here you'll unfortunately see that the shopping trolley spoiler you have is drilled through the bootlid. As it's footprint is larger than the lip spoiler (which I think is simply bonded to the bootlid with double-sided tape) you'll end up with at least one visible hole through the metal at each side of the bootlid :-(

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Best bet would be to purchase a bootlid in the same colour as yours from a non-sport or R-Design model and swap them over, then installing the lip spoiler. I have doubts that Volvo will still supply the OEM one but a number of aftermarket ones are likely available and Heico and Elevate used to make lip spoilers for the S40.

Good luck!

Breakers yards will be the best bet. Keep an eye on S40s breaking on eBay until you find one in the same colour. You'll struggle to find one from a T5 with the lip spoiler so go for a lower spec cars not lid with no spoiler then add it. The DRIVe model had a lip spoiler so look for that if you can.

Hi all, I’m new here and wanting to know a bit more about the RDesign spoiler delete. I was thinking about removing the spoiler and getting some plugs/grommet type things to cover the holes. Do you think it would be possible? Can anyone think of a part that would do this?
Looking forward to your feedback

There are four screws bolting that spoiler down, plus two very sticky pads.

Bootlid swap is the easiest option for tidyness.

I do agree though, that shopping trolley spoiler ruins the appearence of the car when viewed from the rear.

I saw a silver 1.6d earlier today but it had the big 18inch alloys and NO lip spoiler and tbh it looked brilliant...better even than a lip spoiler model.

Those S40s though, they sit very high up in the air compared to all the older Volvos that came before it. Here is my old S40 T5 and S60 2.0T side by side...Look how low the S60 sits, and thats with stock suspension.
