XC70 wheel studs

I had two new tyres fitted by a well known tyre company in Salisbury last July after I had a puncture. It is only now( I have a slow puncture that needs to be repaired) that I have discovered that the pins in the locking nut were damaged by the company and it cannot be used so I ordered a replacement.
Unfortunately, the studs have been so badly damaged that the tyre company I have taken it to still can't remove the wheel.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can resolve this problem?

Have a search for "locking wheel nuts" in the main forum, there's plenty of threads with good tips.....
Hammering a socket into the damaged nut is a common method as is welding a nut onto it to allow it to be removed.

It's the reason I never let a garage remove or refit the locking nuts.

Yep, some garages carry a special type of socket removal (the name eludes me now), but its a blade that fits in the locking wheel pattern, hammer it in and it deforms.

The best method I can recommend is get a cheap socket, remove any spinning metal collars if you have them (chisel and hammer will do the trick), hammer the socket on and then undo it. Worked great for one of my locking ones. It was an S60 and I needed a 24mm socket.

There's always options for spot welding too.

Always take your locking wheel bolts off before you take your car into a garage. They often smash to bits as soon as the windy gun spins into action. Saves you no end of trouble. Just pop them back on A.S.A.P

I had the same issue when getting tyres for mine.

I asked the guys to remove all mine to replace with oe bolts

Unfortunately, this is too late for you. I had problems with my last motor and the locking wheel nuts. I did manage to remove them with a few swear words and plenty of effort. I then threw them away and bought ordinary replacements, hoping that the alloys would not be stolen!
I have recently replaced the old v70 with an xc7o ('06 model). I told the supplier of my previous incident and he replaced them with ordinary bolts. So, don't worry, you are not alone!

More robust locking wheel bolts are out there changed mine on last XC90 after costing an arm and a leg to remove when the remover broke when I purchased my latest XC90 change bolts over.
