Default Volvo 940 Rally car

I was down at Dumfries Volvo today to pick up some parts for my suspension rebuild.

I was very privileged to get a look at the 940 rally car that they are currently building. Thought to be the only one in the UK

I think it will be taking part in an event around Lockerbie on the 14th of May. I will deffo be going down to watch it in action

Great workmanship and that engine bay is stunning !!

Thank's to Andy for letting me have a good look around and also for waiting for me to collect my suspension parts after my drive from Glasgow to Bradford

Not sure. Custom fuel rail so they may well have made something custom throttle body wise as well

Cheers Dave

I was quite surprised not to see a turbo in there. They are still expecting 250bhp though. Engine has also been bored out to 2.4.New pistons rods etc.

I reckon It will sound pretty epic flying through the forests of Dumfries

I was kind of expecting an overbore to about 2.5L obviously new pistons etc, some head work, cam, bottom end balanced etc, can already see the 4-branch exhaust and single throttle body per pot and was thinking in terms of about 100bhp/L so again, 250bhp ish.

Makes sense going non-turbo, no lag, greater reliability (one less thing to go wrong) and while it may not make the all-out power of a turbo unit, i suspect it will be quicker overall on rally stages. Maybe on something like a race track, turbo would be the way to go but on a rally where they're going to be up and down through the box and need instant response after gear changes i can see the logic of n/asp - hope to see more pics as and when Mark!

These maniacs will give Volvo drivers a bad name - how dare they travel at more than 30mph (50kph). And as for their style: hanging out the tail of the car. Shouldn't be allowed. Take their pipes andslippers away from them - IMMEDIATELY.

Plus, how do they keep the labradors safe?

(For those of you who find this post offensive - try reading it in a sarcastic manner.)

Superb!

Maybe my pipe and slippers should be confiscated too, i regularly get the wee beastie way above 30mph and the Labrador (Huskador at the time) has been replaced with a Rottweiler.
