Default Millers Petrol Power Ecomax additive for the T5

I've been adding this additive to my usual Tesco Momentum 99 Octane fuel and there's a definite and marked improvement in performance - enough to make me write here about it.

Millers claim it adds 2 octane numbers to pump fuel so 95>97 and 99>101. Now any fuel in a road car over 100 octane isn't going to be used fully by the engine/ecu so I am going to experiment with the cheaper 95 Unleaded and add the Ecomax to it.

The additive claims to clean injectors and valves and uses a detergent package to maintain cleanliness.

Dosing rate is 1ml per ltr so 50ml added to 50ltrs of fuel - a tiny amount in reality.

There's a definite new sharpness to the throttle response and the car is pulling harder under acceleration. There's a road I use every day with a nice long 3rd gear uphill pull and with the additive the car feels like it did when I first bought it with 24k miles and 4 years old (it's now on 110k and 15 years old).

I can only recommend this product and look forward to continuing its use and trialing the 95 RON fuel.

Average economy hasn't improved yet but hasn't dropped either (I've been hoofing the gas pedal and enjoying the car).

I don't doubt your experience at all. But it is well known that this type of thing is impossible to reliably discern oneself. The only way to know that there isn't a psychosomatic effect is with something like a rolling road test. Interesting though, I've wondered about octane boosters.

I understand but when you've driven the same car every day for 11 years you become very sensitive to how it drives and it's very likely that my injectors were not 'factory fresh' after 15 years. I'm happy anyway.

The other benefit of using this additive would be financial; Super Unleaded is often around 10p/ltr more so by treating 500 ltrs with this additive you could save £35.00 once you've deducted the cost of the Millers (and as long as your car's MPG doesn't decline on basic unleaded).
