I'll need to order a code reader and take it from there.
If you have a elm327 or similar try the torque pro app, it costs a couple of pounds. But it does communicate with both of my ECUs okay and has always picked and cleared codes when necessary.

Worth a shot👍

I have a handheld code reader and also one that works via Bluetooth to the phone. It's reading the car, but not pulling any codes. I have ordered proper Vida / dice code reader. Hoping it's here for the weekend. I'll update when I give that a try.

Something else I'll add, it may be applicable but doubtful.
When it first starting doing it not so often, I changed the fuel filter to rule that out. Didn't make any difference. When I changed it I filled the filter up with diesel but think a small bit of air remained as the car struggled to start. But when finally did start it ticked over fine and still does. Only when pulling away under load does the ' reduced engine performance' pop up on the screen. But doesn't store a code that cheaper readers can pick up.

Hmm odd. Although I know from mine that it doesn't store a code until the ecm is fully on. Or until it pops up the reduced engine performance message. So i had to get it to boot into limp mode before I could read the code once in limp i was able to get a code. Once I restarted the engine it cleared it until it cycled and hit limp again.

No, tried all different ways. Pulled over in limp mode, tried code reader. No codes stored. Tried with turning ignition off in limp mode, still none. Also tried after restart. Weird.

I'm hoping when the vida arrives it will point me in right direction.

Default These are the Vida codes that came up.

So where to start?
Already changed fuel filter.
Fuel pump under seat?
Fuel pressure sensor?
Fuel regulator?

Thoughts?

try a new fuel pressure sensor on the end of the fuel rail , and also get your particle filter pressure sensor or hoses repaired :-)

How big a job to replace the fuel pressure sensor at the end of the rail on a 1.6 d2 engine? Does the rail need to be removed or can the sensor be removed on its own?

Lots of guides for the older engines but struggle with the newer models.

Default Too dark and wet to work on car. This seems to be the main p

Fuel pressure regulator 1 exceeded control limits
Pressure too low
Mechanical failures
Low fluid level.

Going to have another look at the replacement fuel filter I put in.
Maybe even bypass it temporarily to see how it runs.
Though most probably a sensor fault or injector fault?

Changed the fuel prestressing sensor on the end of the fuel rail... Still the same.
