Default Where is page 4 of Volvo Driver?

I don't want to mess up the sticky thread for the PV Register Keeper, but I see that apparently, there is a "new" PV Register Keeper.

Being the confused troublemaker that I am, and being relatively new to this forum, what am I supposed to do about it? I have no idea if my car is registered; and is there any known purpose for having it registered other than to establish that it hasn't seen the crusher. .

Perhaps the PV Register can appear here - although maybe he does behind an avatar designed to hide his identity.

Is the register available to anybody?

Anyway, it is said that he lurks on page 4 of Volvo Driver. What and where is that for the uninitiated American.

Incidentally, do any of you British "members" ever go to the Goodwood Revival? Or Silverstone? or places like that?

Strikes me you got out of the grumpy side of your bed this morning. I see from your name on here you are not a VOC member (it isn't highlighted in blue) so how can you possibly know what is or isn't on page 4 of "Volvo Driver" magazine. I have the Feb magazine right in front of me so can confirm it does list the PV register keeper's details on page 4.
Yes there is a new PV register keeper, a well-respected owner of much older PVs than your 544. When he came to power he requested hearing from PV owners so he knew just how many there were on our books, so I registered my 444 with him accordingly.
Yes I too am a register keeper (140 series) as I run them and like to help out when queries arise - that is what it is about, surely? Perhaps if you were to join the VOC rather than criticise blind, you might look less stoopid when complaining.

Thank you, 'Triple-S'. I personally feel that the club magazine is worth the subscription alone, never mind all the other benefits of membership.

I've just had a look in my own mag and note that, although we have inter alia Disabled, Advanced and Caravan and Camping sections, we do not - as far as I can see - have a US or Overseas members' register.

Instead of the approach used and implied criticism of the club, maybe 'blueosprey90' might consider setting up such a section so that he and his fellow Americans may also enjoy the benefits of membership. In suggesting this, I'm assuming of course that the club would have no objection in principle to such a proposal.

Regards, John.

A bit harsh on blueosprey90 I think, not in the usual helpful spirit I'm used to seeing on here. The guy was just unaware of the magazine and the connection of the forum to the club itself, most forums are unaffiliated.

AFAIK no Register Keeper curates a list of members cars that come under his title. I know that Paul, for many years, has kept an eye on the UK 164's for his own interest. As 140 register keeper, I don't know if he is doing the same for those, again for his own interest. Years ago it did use to happen. Certainly, John Smith used to try and keep up with the 120 owners but it is a thankless task. Because there are so few PV's and Duetts in the UK, not all of them owned by club members, keeping a list up to date might be less onerous. An extra problem now days is data protection and some owners won't want to allow any data about them and their cars to be in the public domain. Even the membership secretary doesn't have access to a members list now. This used to be possible and could be very useful. As many here will know I have a database of Amazon Estates. I just list by registration number and do have some owners names, but not many. The number of cars means keeping it up to date as far as tax and MOT is only done now and then and if sold I'm unlikely to be able to update the owner's name.
Maybe Andrew would be willing to do a PV list, but it's not a decision to be taken lightly.

In answer to the perfect reasonable query by bluespray the volvo driver is the quarterly magazine received by all VOC members. You don't have to be a member to use the forum but you do need to be a member to receive the "driver" There is provision for overseas members.

Boy, you guys are tough.

Sorry that my question and effort at humor offended anyone - er, mostly everyone.

And I have no criticism whatsoever of the Club - especially as I am not a member. Moreover, I have nothing to criticize.

As far as this forum is concerned, I think it's great. I've just seen that sticky at the top since I started here and wondered about the register and its purpose.

My other car pops up in at least one "register". I think Gio in the Netherlands knows more about its history than I do.

While I'm sure the UK VOC will welcome members from the colonies (NB: this is MY attempt at humour ..), I'm sure you're aware of something a bit more local to you?
https://vcoa.org

Of course, many of the older Volvo models are few and far between, and I know my fellow register keepers tend to both know a lot about 'their' model and also the whereabouts of many members and their cars.
