Default Newbee Help - Four c rear shock

Looking to join the ranks of XC70 owners but I note car I'm off to see tomorrow has "light misting " advisory on last MOT...

Is this a "liveable" issue or a £400 at a garage job or a second hand shock from flea bay and spanners at £100..

its a 2008 Se Lux ..

If there is light misting that is fine, as long as it’s still doing it’s job well. Just keep an eye on it in case it does start letting the oil go. I’ve seen damp shocks last for upto 2 years, it can go at any min though and best replacing in pairs.

One of mine is leaking a little and waiting to find a bargain to replace with. Also if there is no electrics attatched it should be an hours job if you have never done it before.

.. keep an eye on it then not a deal breaker on a possible purchase .
.. unfortunately i think having the 4c means there electri-trickery involved.. was hoping plug and play and ecu sorts itself out when somthing is changed....not used to owning these new fangled cars

Indeed. At the very least, you'll need access to VIDA in order to perform a suspension calibration.

Great cars though, I have one from the same year, with the active chassis. If you can get it at the right price, just drop it into Volvo and have them sort it properly, once and for all. You'll get years of use out of it so it isn't that expensive in the big scheme of things.

New shock absorbers for 4C-cars cost quite a lot.

Test drove an S80 with this system, was put off by the possible cost of fixing when it went wrong.

Good luck finding a cheap fix, might not be as bad as you think.

Just for information, does anyone know the part numbers for the 4C suspension for a phase 3 XC70 (2008 onwards)?
I can find them for the previous model, but an internet search is more confusing for the newer model.
Thanks

Default 4C shocks part number and where to buy XC70 Ph2 2007

I am also looking for part number of 4C shocks front and rear for my Phase 2 XC70 2007 model year 2008.
And if any of you know where to buy them cheaper than from Volvo, would be great!
Thanks in advance.
