Default How to short Fuel Pump Relay in V40?

Hi all - can anyone please help me?

I need to know how to power the fuel pump separately through the relay fuse so I can empty the fuel tank of my V40 that I am scrapping. I have just over half tank and I want to get the petrol out please.

Almost 100 percent sure that when you pull the relay out it's the 2 largest connectors that you have to short.

Many many thanks Canis. I'll give it a go.
I'm guessing I can use any wires (as long as it's not very thin)? I think I have some 14 gauge wires.

I shall update this post when I have done it. I'll try and give it a go after work (hopefully it won't rain P )

My friend's scared me by saying it might not be safe to do it... can anyone advise?
What I'm currently planning on doing is accessing the OUTPUT tube from the pump and inserting my own tube to redirect the fuel to my canister.
Some fuel did leak out when I unplugged the original tube from the OUTPUT tube but that was last week.. surely it's all dried now?

Unfortunately I don't know where the fuel tube that goes into the engine is so I have to do this from the pump... or is it best to find the fuel tube that goes into the engine? Can anyone tell me where?

That tool will indeed work, although you can do it with nothing more than a bolster chisel and a rubber mallet, as long as you're careful you won't damage anything doing it this way, and yes, draining the fuel in this way is pretty safe, that's all I did to empty the T4 and I had no issues.

Hi - when you say you drained yours this way... did you mean get the pump out and drain the tank through the hole? Or powered up the pump?

Oh I see haha, no I had a load of crud in my tank so I had to remove the sender and go in that way to clean it, I'd completely blocked the gauze filter on the pump housing it was that bad, in that instance I had to drain the tank completely with a submersible pump and then use a rag with a small amount of oil on to wipe the tank clean, but yes the method of using the cars own pump just to drain fuel out is perfectly ok.
