D5 E3 injector clamp
Noticed a chuffing noise from my engine over the easter weekend, and sure enough have black goo around 2 or 3 of the injectors (hard to tell). I have some sealing washers and a seat reamer, in the experience of the forum, is it worth forking out of some new clamps, or are they reuseable?
I know some will say change the pipe as well - but I won't be doing unless they leak fuel once back together. |

I have reused clamps but it's not always easy to reintroduce the bend evenly into the clamp.
I suppose a vice would make the job more simple. My preference is to use a new clamp set @£20 each approximately and I also use the dedicated Volvo tool which makes installing the new circlip very simple. Circlip installation without the tool is fiddly and time consuming. If I didn't have that tool, I'd probably reuse the clamp.

Thanks for your advise and videos Si, I've proper splashed out on 3x clamps - 2 injectors are dry, #2 has properly failed and is sat in fresh goo, #1 and #3 have either a slight leak or have been splashed from #2. Also forked out on the tool you mentioned, as I didn't like the look of that circlip. As I intend running the D5 for a while it makes sense to me (and may stop me making a stupid decision and buying an R!)

Started to do these today, it was number 3 that had failed, 2 was dry on the injector stem.
Blooming heck the old circlip needs a lot or swearing at to get it off! |
