Default geartronic box sometimes lumpy

Hi folks

sometimes changing gear can be lumpy, jolty, dammit, cant think of the correct term at present lol, anyhoo, is this a known issue, I am yet to check the fluid but need to find out where the point is please?

As i say, its only sometimes, i suppose the worst is going into reverse, thats probably about 70% of the time....

dipstick is on the front, open bonnet, stand by n/s headlight, look down between radiator cowl and gearbox case, should see red coloured handle top, might have to tease a couple of rubber hoses out the way, but its down there, about half height of the engine so to speak.....not like a lot of auto dip sticks that stare you in the face the moment you open the bonnet.

I had some issues with my geartronic, iirc lumpy shifts and even the wrong display in the DIM. I sprayed the connector above the gearbox with contact cleaner and haven't had any new issues in almost a decade. (I did do a flush later that year and CEM issues sometimes cause a clunck in my gearbox as well, but I see that as a different issue).

Facelift car doesn’t have a gearbox dipstick.
There’s a combined level plug and drain plug on the gearbox sump under the car.

Which face-lift? Mines the 2006 so I assume you mean the 1st face-lift, mine. So I'm best off just going for a fluid change?

P2 after 2005 when it got the 6 speed auto/geartronic box.

That’s the end of my knowledge though, mines a manual so never had this bother.

DIM = Drivers Information Module
