Default V70 2002 rear door lock

The driver's side rear door lock often refuses to unlock/lock. Is it possible to replace just the central locking part or do I have to replace the entire lock?

Isn't it all just one piece that comes out together, I had a look on ebay and if I've got the right part it's about £35

non volvo branded but then it's not like it's a critical part of the suspension or engine management etc so does that really matter

There's one at £34.49 fro Dragon Modifications but that is just an actuator but wasn't sure it would fit my car. I'll follow that video and take out the existing lock and see if the actuator is detachable. I'm just wondering if anyone else has done this job.

yeah sorry I've not had it out myself, just going by what I can see it looked like one sealed complete unit, but I could easily be wrong

Following that video I managed to get the old lock off and it looks nothing like the actuator at £34.49 even though eBay claimed it would fit. Another search of eBay turned up a second hand unit (from Lithuania!) for £20 which looked identical to the one I now had in my hand so I bought it even though eBay said it wouldn't fit. Delivery is 2nd May. I'll report back when I have fitted it.

Of course you've got to add another £20 for the p&p. Just ordered a Drivers side catch from the same place, fingers crossed.

Postage was £12 so total cost was £32. Lock arrived today, much earlier than I expected, and is now fitted and working. Feeling quite pleased with myself I'm going to have a go at adjusting the shims on the A/C clutch as at the moment it doesn't engage: gap is too large at 80mm. I bought a tool to remove the clutch a while ago. Looks like I will have to remove the alternator for access. It's a job I have been putting off for sometime but it would be nice to have A/C working this summer.
