Default Oil blockage help

Hi all,

Hopefully someone can help me?

I have a 1.8 s40 2008 and the oil light has come on!

Have changed the filter and oil, nothing. Then I changed the pressure sensor, light still on.

Checked the wiring and got 12v to the sensor!

When I changed the sensor I expected to lose a bit of oil but not a drop came out!

It sounds a bit rattly than normal but not to much, I drove it half a mile home when the light came in and haven’t drove it since.

Can anyone suggest any other issues I may have or any suggestions before I check the strainer? I haven’t removed the sump on one of these before is it a ball ache? As it’s currently on the road outside my house!

Looking for any suggestions as to how I can fix this.

Thank you

I wouldn't start it, let alone drive it again in this condition. If it was mine, I'd have the sump of and look at the strainer on the pickup like you suggested. Hopefully it's something simple like that and not the oil pump.

Thanks just did a quick pressure test and it was zero! Definitely won’t be starting let alone driving it again!

Is the sump off an easy job? Read the Haynes and it doesn’t look too bad

I've not done it myself on this engine, but I believe it's a fairly straightforward if not messy job. The good thing about these engines is there is plenty of space around them making them easy to work on. Just make sure you have all the bits and tools before you start!
