Default Gearbox flush?

My 2007 d5 geartronic has started to make some grinding noises in low gears when pulling away. Doesn’t do it all the time and fine in higher gears. Volvo has it for a few days to run and diagnose the fault and they believe it’s the gearbox. They have suggested a flush to try to resolve this but no guarantees of course.

They want £400 plus vat for the privilege of doing this.

I may look at getting someone else to do this because I can’t believe it costs £400 to be honest. Can this make things worse? I’m happy to spend money on preventative maintenance but concerned I could ruin the car.

The gearbox does have a small leak, identified by Volvo , but not serious. The car is on 160k. Is it worth the risk?

Just had mine done at a local stealer... £225.

£400 seems a bit steep.
