Anti skid service required
Hi, I hope someone out there can assist with advice/suggestions.
I have a 2007 model XC90, D5 2.4. Driving on the A14 yesterday, an instrument light illuminated on the instrument cluster, a message also appeared stating ' Anti skid service required' Has anyone else encountered this, and what is the cause and rectification? I thought I would make enquiries to yourselves prior to a Volvo dealership investigating and potentially suffering a significantly lighter wallet too. Thank you in advance. |

HAD THIS MSG TWICE IN THE LAST YEAR. (oops caps lock wrong!)
i searched and found potentially the Yaw sensor is causing the problem but also read that people suggested the abs sensors could be dirty causing the fault... recommended hosing the abs/brake areas down with a hose pipe / jet wash... i did this and it cleaered the code as i drove down the street, and it stayed off until i changed all the discs n pads a few months ago. now i asked myself whats been changed? Obviously discs n pads so maybe ive knocked some rust bits off which have stick to the magnetic abs sensors (happened on amk4 golf a few years back) the rearabs sensors pop out in 5 mins so i did that, cleaned them up with choke/carb cleaner and put them back in. drove down the street and lights went out again, and never returned yet....dare i say it!

Anti Skid Service Required - Update.
In response to my original post.
I contacted a gentlemen (whom I have no affilation to) John from Service Tune based in Wellingborough, Northants. 01933 273147. He visited our home address. Once the diagnostic equipment was plugged in, the wheel sensors were deemed to be fault free, so the fuse in the boot compartment was checked, this is labelled as 'AWD' it is a 7.5 amp fuse, fuse number 24, it had in fact blown, possibly when we went through a large amount of water one day before the warning lamp and message came on. Anyway, it is working fine, no warning lights and no messages on the display. Thank you to all those who read and contributed, I hope that if anyone else has this problem that they check the fuses first. Many Thanks. |

Anti Service Service Required
Apologies I have an update,
Yes there was a fault with the front nearside sensor, it was registered on the diagnostic tool, it seems that the drive through the water episode may have triggered/shorted the sensor, thus leading to the blown fuse number 24, labelled as AWD in the Volvo handbook, not labelled at source. Thanks |
