Default Just bought my first 850.

Hi
I have just bought my first 850 and am seriously impressed. I had a 740GLE some years ago and during my ownership the only thing to go wrong was fitting a new top hose. So as my previous car was written off I saw this 850 on the net. Top of the range CD model 2.5 20valve. Full Volvo service history and only done 116k miles. The only thing is that it has a slight musty smell when running inside , I think it's something to do with the full air con. Do I need to fit a new pollen filter.?
Any help much appreciated to a newbie Volvo owner and a newbie to this forum.

Cool

The chances are their is no pollen filter fitted. Does the air conditioning work? The thing is the evaporator is prone to rotting through because their is no pollen filter. The smell is most likely mould on the evaporator. If the air conditioning does work, a filter and filter houseing can be fitted.

Talking Wiffy Air Con

Yup, if you can get a pollen filter change it.

You can also get air con treatment sprays from your local motor accessory shops. They work in various ways. Some of them and like a "smoke bomb" you set off in the rear footwell with the car running and the air con on......
Other cans come with a pipe you insert up the recirc vent (where the fans draw air from when you have the recirc putton pushed) with the engine and aircon running. Sounds a little like an embarrassing health treatment but it does work

They usually come in a citrus fragrence.

Should clear your musty smell up.........no jokes please!!
