I'm not a expert or a mechanic so as far as I can see and how it feels it seems good .. the things which failed in the mot they have been fixed we even went to the garage that they use and saw the guy who did the repairs for the mot I like it just the mileage is high I think I will go and get it tomorrow |

Out of interest, what made you choose this car?
Were you looking for a Volvo V40 D5 or were you just looking for a used car at the right price? For me it was the latter, but that was 8 years ago and I'm now on my third V70, my wife is on her second Volvo, my son is now on his first Volvo, and even my daughter owned one for a year. |

That sounds like the story of so many of us A friend sold me a 940 for less than the price of the tyres and tax on it when I was in need, two 850's and now in the V70, and I was having a sneaky look at a V40 which I thought wasn't unreasonably priced at the dealers the other day.

Back in 2011 I wanted a cheap but reliable car since I no longer needed something to support the 30,000 miles a year that I'd previously been doing.
(I'd recently part-exchanged a 2005 Mondeo 2.2 TDCi with 160K on the clock for a low mileage 2009 Mondeo 2.2 TDCi only to have that written off after 4 weeks. At the same time my days of 90-miles each way commutes suddenly ended.) During my search for a cheap reliable car I spotted the first Volvo that I test drove. It was on sale locally, and it was a 2.0 940 saloon wherein the little ring on the gear lever rattled annoyingly. The rest of the car was pristine but it was sooooo slow. It was through this car that we discovered Volvo comfort, however, since my wife actually fell asleep during the test drive due to how comfortable and cosy she felt. The 1998 P1 V70 2.5 10V auto from the same local dealer that I test drove a few days later was the one that spoke to me straight away and that got purchased without hesitation. That dealer also sold me my P2 V70, my wife's 2000 S60, my wife's 2005 C70 and my son's 2011 XC70 and it'll be our first port of call when looking for our next Volvo. |
