That is my guess. The HUD would probably not look great reflecting off the thin wired in the heated windscreen. But if this is the case why couldn't Volvo just remove the wires from the area of the HUD? Heating the rest of the screen would still be beneficial.

Just seems strange that you have to pick either the screen or HUD in the winter pack.

I am glad I have a choice of heated or HUD as I hate heated with its small wires which this time of year is most distracting last car had heated and it was most annoying.

HUD is a gimmick, don't see the point. I don't see how it offers anything that a tiny glance down does give you.

I dont really understand it, Range Rover (who like Volvo acquired the heated screen technology from Ford) offer heated screen and HUD together and it works fine.
One of the few things that disappoints me with the XC90. S |

Nope, don't see the point. Had an S90 for a week before getting mine which had it and it annoyed me more than anything. I'm not in a fighter jet!

Guess it is down to personal preference, as I think it is one of the best things on my car. The heated windscreen would have been nice but rather have something I can make use of every day rather than something I would use a few times a year.
