C30 d4 egr remap advice
Hi guys,
I'm curious about having a basic remap done on my c30 d4 (2.0 5 cylinder). I'm not looking for outright power. Just a tailored map for clean and smooth running. Can the egr be turned off and left in situ in a dorment state? Or would it need to be physically removed and blanked? Please no eco warrior replies! I've already said i want it remapped for clean running! |

Do you even have to remove the EGR on a D3 for a remap?
I thought you could just leave it there and working? Maybe I'm wrong though, not clued up on diesels....

Apologies, i should have been more specific;
I'm experiencing a slight hesitation, almost miss-fire like at very low rpm when the throttle is lightly applied. I.e. when I'm traversing between the huge speed bumps in my area! I've been advised it could be early signs of egr failure. There are no fault codes and no adverse engine characteristics otherwise. Under normal / spirited driving, it pulls very well with no smoke etc. So in essence, i was interested in simply turning the egr off but having the car live mapped at the same time to maintain/ improve its cleanliness and economy. So! Can the egr simply be switched off and left dorment in the engine? Or does it need to be removed and blanked? |

Fair comment... As said above, have been advised that the egr is the likely culprit.
So out of personal preference, I'd prefer to have the egr turned off and have the engine cleanly mapped to match it perfectly rather than have the one size fits all factory map and bolt on egr emissions fix... So can the egr be switched off and left dorment in situ? Or would it need removing and blanking? |

Rare perhaps, but not unheard of.
I've changed the fuel filter only 2 months ago asking with full service. As said before, all engine characteristics are as normal otherwise barring this little blip at very low revs at light throttle. (My previous car did the same and it was the egr) As for the emissions; with my previous diesel cars, I had them both live mapped with egr delete and the emissions test results afterwards proved actually better than factory map with egr. This is my first Volvo and consequently am asking the question to which someone should have covered, surly?! So! If the egr is disabled in the software alongside a live remap, can the egr physically remain on the engine in a dorment state? |
