But if for now no problems at all... should i wait? I hope it will not break near the end of manufacturer warranty... dealer should inform me then...not me knowing through internet...wtf ?! Trying to run away from responsabilities...always the same shameless attitude.

Took my car to the dealer on Friday as well. They run the update and it seems to be working properly since then without any issues. Fingers crossed it will continue like this.

Not sure which update they did. I went there and told them that from what i read in this post there is a software update fixing the issue. They told me that they updated the software and after that the modem is working properly.

Sorry i cannot be of more help. I suggest you go to the dealer and ask them to update you to the latest software.

Whilst stevej69's problems appeared after the Nov update, it could be a coincidence and perhaps there's an actual hardware problem with the VCM. I had comms problems early on and everything pointed to a s/w issue but in fact the VCM was faulty. It took 3 weeks to resolve with the problem passed to Sweden for diagnosis. Iirc, it's not possible to swap to a known good module as each one is coded to the car. The VCM does seem to cause a disproportionate number of issues (my dealer said they'd had a few cars in with VCM problems).

I'm on my 3rd VCM module now. . But it has been stable for over a year even after the Nov update.

Just had an update from Volvo re my ongoing issues with the Modem not auto connecting - their view is that the Nov Sensus update had caused the problem with the fix being a whole new VCM that has been ordered today.
So hopefully an end in sight.

Not sure that will help. The problem is software. There is a patch for this. I got it. Everything fine now.

Apparently the patch/rollback does not apply to MY19 models........so Volvo technical boffins have said in my case.......rightly or wrongly.
They believe during the recent update process, that the VCM’s ROM memory was somehow overridden by some of the update code.

My dealer have had my car for 11 weeks (on monday), have replaced the VCM and still there are issues.

My car had the 3g/4g fault, as well as serious issues with Nav (both inbuilt and car play) as well as lots of random failure messages.

Only 9 months old, so rejected and new one on order.

Just had a new VCM module fitted under warranty (£1,800 retail cost...!!!) and all problems instantly solved with Modem instantly auto connecting when car starts..............so hopefully my last posting on this thread.

If anyone is considering purchasing an extended warranty on their Volvo, the retail cost of this VCM module makes the decision a one sided argument.
I already know what I will be doing in 2 yrs time............
