Default Parking Control Module

Hi all

Had a "parking aid service required" message on the dash. Diagnoticss confirmed my initial suspicion that it was reverse sensor no3 that had failed.

So I replaced sensor no's 2 & 3 just to be sure as a Volvo indi garage suggested best to do those at the same time.

Since the new sensors have been fitted though I still get the error message on the dash and the reverse sensors still dont work.

So now Im thinking I need a new control module....So my question is are they a plug & play unit? In other words can I buy a used unit off Ebay, plug it in and expect it to work? Or will it need coding to the car or something?

Thanks,

Simon.

Assuming the new sensors are the correct ones and do work, it is more likely to be a wiring loom fault - very common. The DTC will tell you if there is a short or open on the loom. If it does prove to be the PAM, it is plug and play.

A quick browse on Ebay and it seems that there are a million and one different ECU codes printed on the PAM boxes. Does anyone know if you have to match exactly the ecu codes?

Thanks.

The PAM sits on the LIN bus to the REM
Whilst CAN bus addressing changed over different model years, I am unsure about the LIN bus

You can replace like for like with certainty, and like for unlike with a degree of risk.

Use VIDA to check part numbers of what is for sale and determine the level of risk you will have.
