Default Headlamp adjustment S40 2007 mk1

I think I have xenon's installed. They certainly fire up like xenon and the back of the bulb housing looks like it has a ballast not just a cable & plug.

I can't find where they are adjusted on the dashboard -- is it automatic? If so I think the motors must be dead.

I've tried adjusting manually with the plastic tab, one headlamp adjusted up fine, but the other is just clicking and I can see it's lifting instead of gripping the mechanism. Will try the Allen key on that tonight.

Hi
if you dont have physical dial with level adjustment (its where the dial for dashboard light intensity is) you do indeed have OEM xenons and yes those do have self levelling. Adjusters are only to set the base-level of where movement should start, have a look at recent post with similar question. On the startup, your lights should do a up-down "dance" routine, thats the self levelling check. If you dont observe this - something is wrong. The only way to calibrate them is trough Vida.

Just to update this thread, I ended up using the 8mm Allen key and it still clicked but it did move up. They're not perfectly aligned but it'll do for now. I can now see the road ahead!

There's definitely no up-down dance routine.

Then you know whats wrong - Self levelling doesnt work and lights are probably in lowest possible position, no amount of allan key rotations will make them go up enough.
Why self levelling doesnt work thats another question, either controller, or wiring or sensors at axles or whatever else - users with OEM HIDs can probably help more as I am not sure. Hooking ot to Vida could also give you straingt info.

Thanks. It's going in this week for gremlin repairs so I'll ask them to check out the headlamp motors at the same time.

For clarity, the Allen key *did* raise them up enough (and I had to adjust back down again afterwards)
