Suspension: 850: HELP!!! my T5R needs a new anti roll bar and volvo dont make

my T5R has failed its MOT on the anti roll bar. its a 21mm bar and volvo only do a 20mm. what are my options?

ive already used a poly bush kit and it didn't last very long.

cant you just fit a 20mm one ? what i recall the bushes are an integral part of it anyway

possibly but im now investigating if I can use an S70 one, as im guessing they still make them?

Fit a front ARB from a S/V70 2.5D or just go with another 21/21.5mm repair kit.

How long were they fitted before they failed? Curious to know if the appropriate grease was applied on assembly?

I dread to ask , but what exactly does the refusal sheet say , regarding te ARB ?

Is it possible to post a picture of the offending bar . I have yet to fail an ARB itself , many many links /mountings / bushes or balljoints but never the actual bar

they were from PFS back in 2012. ive done 4500 miles since then.

this is what the MOT says:

•Nearside Front Anti-roll bar insecure and impairing directional stability fouling on the lower suspension arm (5.3.3 (a) (ii))

also failed on this:

•Offside Front Service brake excessively binding (1.2.1 (f))

and advisorys on this:

•Nearside Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened rusty (1.1.14 (a) (ii))
•Offside Front Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened rusty (1.1.14 (a) (ii))
•Nearside Rear Axle swivel pins and bushes swivel pin and/or bush slightly worn front mounts (5.1.2 (b) (i))
•Offside Rear Axle swivel pins and bushes swivel pin and/or bush slightly worn front mounts (5.1.2 (b) (i))
•Nearside Front Headlight wiper arm is very close to obscuring the headlight beam image.


basically the guy was all over it. going round with a toffee hammer on the chassis. winging that he wouldn't have undersealed the bottom, which I said cost me £750 at a pro rust treatment company.

I'd just try and pick up another ARB from an s or v70, it's unusual for them to go in this way.
Service brake is an easy enough fix, worse case scenario is another caliper, there cheap enough.

so the ARB isn't actually broken, sounds like the mounting bush is worn or the drop link has broken, can you post a picture?

Drop links are easy enough and repair kits are available for the mounting bushes, I think you have to cut the old ones off as they are bonded on.

Rest of the advisories seem fairly easy to do...

its the bushes, which ive already replaced 4500 miles ago with pfv poly bushes. but it seems the bar is moving from side to side. im guessing the bush is worn or the flange on the bar is worn.
