XC60 remove headlining - to fit remote control box
Hi Everyone
We've got a new (to us) 2014MY XC60 D5 which is lovely, but the remote central locking and also the keyless functions are very poor in terms of range. Both keys are the same, and we've replaced the batteries in the remotes with decent (3.26v) new ones. No improvement. My next step is looking at the roof mounted antenna in the headlining (probably part number 30772784) and replacing this with a new one (part 31419544, which supersedes the ...84 one). Can anyone tell me where abouts in the headlining (UK car) the module is? Don't really want to have to drop the entire lining if I can help it, so any advice welcome. I think I've read it's near the rear passenger side grab handle?? Thanks Will

As I am currently doing this here is my method - The module is stuck to the headliner behind the panoramic sun roof.
You dont have to remove the headliner - take out the two grab handles [2x8mm bolts each handle behind the plastic covers] and the socket for the dog grill [1 x 10mm bolt each side] and remove the plastic trims [centre roof trim first] that secure the headliner around the boot aperture and C pillar. This will allow the headliner to droop to give you access to the module - careful not to to crease or kink the liner. It is easier to access from the passenger side rear door in UK RHD cars. I have included a still from a youtube video with my labels added to help you identify the location of the module. There are two clips on either side of the module mount will release the module and then carefully remove the wiring plug. Refitting is the reverse of removal. Job will take an hour max. I am replacing my 30772784 with an identical numbered unit from ebay for £21 - dealer wanted £200+. The 31419544 part is currently between £60 - £150 on ebay Hope this helps IB Last edited by ProfessirIB; Dec 8th, 2023 at 18:54. |
