Default 09 V70 N/S OEM Mirror not Fitting

Hi All,

Was hoping for some help here, I have had my V70 for almost 12 months and love it. However on the way into work some school kid decided to run into the side and smash off my mirror.

What a headache this has been, I opted to go to Volvo as it was quick and I thought it would be an easy swap....No amongst other issues I have now fitted it and the top part of the cowling doesn't sit flush with the car meaning its not water tight.

I will add a picture so you can all see what I mean...

Has anyone else ever had this problem, if not joy I will return to Volvo for a explanation given it appears to clearly not fit.

Thanks All

There's obviously something stopping it seating correctly. Did you compare your old mirror mounting bracket against the new one for any differences ? Mirrors from LHD models are I believe slightly different.Try refitting taking particular care that any spigots seat in their locating holes. If problem persists go back to Volvo for advice . It would be unlikely that Volvo main agent would supply the wrong unit as they should have matched it using the vin number . I have rebuilt a mirror on a p3 a couple of years ago and had a similar problem . Mirror was bought from a guy on this forum ,was new and bagged but a slightly different mount I asked our local Volvo but they couldn't explain (wern't really interested ) why it was different so I swapped over the internals and mechanism to our old mount ; obviously not an option for you as it's broken. Hope you can sort it . Let us know the outcome.

There could also be some damaged plastic from the previous mirror still stuck in the way.

Take the mirror off the car and then hit the area where it fits with a hammer.
When damaged, the old mirror has "pulled" the web of metal where it mounts.

To check, take the other side off and look at both door frames, then modify (with aforementioned hammer) the door frame.

Re fit mirror and go happily into the sunset .........
