Default Puddle door & boot lights upgrade 31457548

Hello everyone, First post.

has anyone upgraded their puddle lights or door lights?
part number 31457548

I thought banging in some brighter LEDs would do the trick but appears not

I have discovered that there is more to the little light than meets the eye.

so after testing and reverse engineering it, I know how it works.
my plan is to install 3W power LED with a LED driver chip

asking because i was hoping there was already a existing upgrade option?

Exclamation

So have discovered that the computer will cut power if you draw to much current

My new plan is to have the 12v puddle light supply not power the light at all but send a signal to a transistor switch that will supply 12V to the LEDs from the door computer. Parts are order so lets wait and see

on a side note:- i did find rear passenger footwell lights under the drivers and passenger seat these were not working so assumed it was a fuse but there is only 1 5A fuse for footwell lights and its ok plus the front are working.

Removed the seats and found that they haven't been wired on the car end. The seat connector has the wiring but not the car connector. I added a new single pin on the car side and ran it to the front footwell lights and now they work.

drivers side was harder because of the audio amp under the seat. was also a great time to clean under the seats,

I'll keep you posted on the results

Someone somewhere on the forum upgraded their reversing lights and I believe had similar problems. Maybe have a search, or hope whoever it was sees this and jumps in.
