I guess that makes sense, I didn't really think people would be interested but it certainly will be a help as I navigate round the car trying to figure things out - thank you for the advice

Was out in the 850 tonight and stopped off for a few pics on the road home.

You know that’s really not helping me trying to be patient with my project!

Looking lovely. Wish mine had a rear spoiler, I’ll put that on my list too, it finishes the back of the car perfectly.

Just read this through from the beginning - what a cracker of a car, and what a great job you've done.

The downside is that we're all doomed to be disappointed now - we'll all be trying to attain that standard now!

Thank you for your kind words, but I'm sure you have nothing to worry about bringing your car up to standard. It's been a long time since I did any competitive car shows therefore a bit out of touch nowadays. I would rather have a car I can enjoy now rather than have to worry about anything happening to it when I leave it parked in the street or at a show

This was my multi-award winning 1947 Rover 16 Sport Saloon. I was at a show and it was parked next to other cars where I left it to go and look at the other cars. When I returned to the car I caught a mouthful of chemicals/perfume in the back f my throat and saw a girl about 25 feet away spraying herself with possibly deodorant. I never thought anything of if and when I returned home and was putting the car back in the garage I noticed the paintwork was covered in something so decided to give it a wash thinking it was possibly tree sap or something from the field were were in. The marks wouldn't come off, they were caused by the airborne particles the girl was spraying herself with and had etched into the paint

This was the write up in CCW at the time

This was the damage caused, every panel on the car was damaged

What a gorgeous car! And who would have thought that a deodorant or similar could do that kind of damage. You must have been absolutely gutted

Devastated would be a better description, but just have to sort things out and get on with it and she went on to win plenty more silverware

The only thing worse than lockdown boredom is rain and we've had plenty both yesterday and today. So this morning I decided to clean the door shuts on the 850 to try and relieve some of the boredom and keep me from going full fruitloop...

A few reflection shots from yesterday which was spent hand polishing and waxing the rest of the car
