Default My XC90 03 plate D5 auto, engine cut out mostly whilst at li

My XC90 03 plate D5 auto, engine cut out mostly whilst at lights. This happened 4 times yesterday ,all after waiting for some time then start to move. My independent Volvo specialist read fault codes last week and he said it was due to fuel filter. It replaced and still having the same issue. He ensured there are no another fault codes. Has anyone encountered this issue in the past ?

What was the error code?
It's quiet possible your lift pump in the tank is failing, but I'd more expect an 'engine service' message and limp mode when you accelerate.

Thank you.
When the issue happens " Engine System Service Required" message appears briefly.

I don't know how to explain this to the mechanics

You'll know!

You'll accelerate and nothing will happen, apart from the car slowing down. When mine did it (v70 manual), I found letting the throttle off actually helped.

Thinking about it, as mine is manual, the gearbox would have kept the engine turning, I got very adapt at turning the ignition off for a few seconds then back on again whilst driving to reset the car - won't work on an auto obviously.

One thing I found though was that the code wouldn't store once the engine was turned off - I got to the point of driving with vida running and a dice plugged into the car so I could figure out what's happening.

Does your car run out of fuel too early? By that I mean at around 1/8th tank? I'm taking the assumption that the XC90 fuel tank is similar to the V/XC70 btw.

I have never noticed fuel case. Does the error message make any sense to you ? Probably I should ask them to read the code while driving

it just means the car engine has sensed a fault.

If you are going to get it code read, take it in with less that 1/4 tank of fuel and ask them to read what the 2 float senders are reading - they need to look on the REM on VIDA.
Have you asked on the forum if there is a user near you with the equipment who can check your car?

Excellent , thank you. I'm thinking to take the car to a garage tomorrow . The garage which claimed to be Volvo specialist let me down . They just replaced the fuel filter and confirmed me no more error codes. But nothing changed ! I'm trying to find words to explain the situation properly as this is intermittent issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hmmm - is the car running fine other than the cutting out? What is the garage's reasoning on the need to replace all 5 injectors - seems a bit rich to me (excuse the pun)?!

I suggest getting more diagnostics done, especially on fuel line pressure - I would collect advice from others on this forum before proceeding.
