Swirl flap removal
Reading around on this issue I note that BMW engineers recommend removal and blanking off swirl flaps. Anyone seen any similar advice re. D5 engines?

Since it is BMW engineers that designed and fitted swirl flaps to BMW engines, why would they then recommend removing them? Is there a reason why you want to remove yours?

And why would you want to do what BMW drivers do?
Next you will be ignoring lane markings, not using indicators and treating speed limits as optional.

Engine swallows swerl flaps and it's a bill for 8 grand for new one. Fortunately the Volvo design is the flaps sit on top of the port not in it as the BMW ones do, if the Volvo one breaks you are very unlucky for it to be ingested into the cylinders, with the BMW it's quite common. Paul. |

When the arm has come off the the engine side how easy should the swirl flaps move? Mine move really easy, have fitted a new arm and will do the mod if it comes of again.
