Few things
Check the crank case isn't pressurised.

Do this with a latex glove on the oil filler and a tight fitting rubber band, if the glove inflates with engine running its a very involved fix. Takes a decent spanner man a few hours and parts are not cheap.

Also, have a good look at the engine mountings, all of them. the front and back ones are known to fail and have vacuum hoses to the.

The gearbox torque arm isn't that expensive but will probably be knackered if it hasn't been changed.

Good luck
Al

You may get more responses in the section that covers that model: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=19

For manual gearboxes, potential problems include DMF and leaky clutch master cylinders.

Check MOT history to get an idea of how well it has been looked after: https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
