Default ETM Replacement

Hi Guys
Been reading all the posts on this subject
Bit concerned that the replacement fails so early on many occasions
Having worked in the automotive industry for 15 years some of you may be shocked at what goes on as regards to the (aftermarket)
Most OEMs have a secondary company to deal with the spares ie unipart
etc who do not have the same resourses ie Quality / Engineering to check and ensure that the parts meet the spec!! nor do they have the same corporate clout when its required to bring to bear on suppliers.
The only time that the OEMs get involved is when there is a supply issue.
In other words suppliers will supply "sub standard" parts to these companys
knowing that 99% of the time it will go un-noticed as any problem gets diluted
by the time it gets to the dealers, the only exeption to this that I am aware of is safety critical parts. and to make it worse the suppliers get alot more money for these parts than they do off the OEMs. So we are left at the mercy of the supply base who by the way are squeezed year on year for cost downs by the OEMs.
