Default RTI Sat Nac SW Update

Hi all.

I have the RTI Sat Nav in my 08 V70. The current SW version is 0992? Can anyone advise if this is the latest version? I bought a new map disc from SatNavDVD which has updated the roads but the SW version remains the same?

I have tried googling and I cannot find anyone selling SW update so am assuming this is as good as it gets?

If not, grateful for some info on where to get the software update without spending the Volvo dealer prices.

Many thanks.

I can't comment on the latest version, but I know Volvo are doing an offer for £85 inclusive of VAT for the latest official disc if its of any use.

You can see the actual map date from one of the pages on the menu. Copies of latest maps can be purchased for under £25: https://www.satnavdisc.co.uk/Volvo/v...av-disc-update

I bought the 2016 maps from that supplier and they are fine. Of course, they're technically knock-offs of the genuine discs, but if Volvo kept their prices down then there would be no need to buy from non-official sources. Do double check they are the correct ones for your year of car, but they worked fine in my 2008 XC70.

Thanks all for the responses.

The map data I have is up to date since installing the new disc, its the software version I am looking to update. Having done a bit more trawling, it would appear that there is a later version, 0bc6.

If there is a later version, does anyone know if there is any improvement in the system that comes with the update, i.e. is it worth taking it to Volvo to getting it installed?

As far as I know, the software update is on the same disc as the map update.

Understood thanks. So, can anyone tell me what the software updates do? I cannot seem to find any release notes online.

I am now thinking that the supplied map disk must be some kind of knock-off without the software update installed, especially given the price. Is it worth pursuing?

If the disc is a clone of the Volvo original, then it will have whatever software Volvo decided to include. Not sure quite what you're expecting an update to do, but it's more than likely just minor bug fixes rather than any usability or functional changes that an end-user would notice.

I'd be very surprised if you'd find any release notes for anything on a 2008 vehicle. Some of the current models with built in internet connectivity will have published release notes as you have a choice about whether you want to download software updates.
