Turbo conversion-does it need EVAP canister?
Plodding on with the 265, the donor car for the LH 2.4 loom had EVAP, which I kept in case. Does it do anything (in a non Grizzly Greta sense), or can it be left off? I suppose it isnt hurting so could pop it on anyway.
Anorak turbo question over. Thanks, Jim |

No you don't need it, but you do need to keep the roll-over valve attached to the tank.
I'm confused by your reference to the loom. I don't think there are any electrical connections to the EVAP system. What car did the loom come from? |

Thanks for your reply.
The car is 1979 265 shell.Fuel tank and plumbing is 1992 245 from the same B200F donor car that gave the whole loom.Engine is 1988 740 turbo B230ET, now minus the Motronic and using the LH2.4 setup. ECUs are 1992 200FT from a 940 Turbo. As you can see, a Bitza. The EVAP is just pipes and a canister, nothing electrical. For the effort involved I may well leave the EVAP stuff off since we dont live in sunny California. Cheers, Jim Last edited by heckflosse; Jun 24th, 2020 at 16:11. |

Ahh, I see. In that case, yes leave it off.
But as I said, keep the roll-over valve that is fitted at the rear of the vehicle close to the tank. It is there to stop fuel pouring out of the vent in the case of a accident. |

I have spoken with Classicline and they are pretty happy with it-after all its all Volvo stuff and era correct. The car was on the road for years with a 2316 instead of the seized V6 after all.
Will get round to pictures at some point! |

I'm guessing you may not be able to register the car as an historic vehicle (it being over 40 years old) because of the 'not significantly modified clause' one has to endorse on the declaration. That would be a pity - unless perhaps you have already registered it as an historic car before the change. I suppose one would be obliged to tell DVLA of the modification once it is complete (I doubt it would rescind the historic registration at that point).
