Default Smart, portable Garmin navigation system fits all new Volvo

In cooperation with Garmin, Volvo Cars has developed an elegant navigation kit that can be fitted to all new Volvo cars. The dealer installed accessory kit includes both a mounting bracket and the navigator unit. It will be available by the end of 2007.

Seems a heck of a price - and how does it attach, some sort of "feet" throught the speaker grill or something (or is it a replacement grill)? I like the idea of losing the power lead - now if it had an integrated TMC aerial instead of the five foot of cable coming out of mine it would be good too but it doesn't say.

Sorry to revive such an old thread

Does anyone know if this kit still exists or where to get it from?

Has anyone fitted this garmin kit before?

Seems like a nice option, and would really appreciate any further info.

Probably cheaper and better to use something like tomtom on your phone and use a brodit mount and holder for your phone, which is what i've been doing for years despite my volvo having rti nav on it

the kits are not current now it seems, but have a word with your dealer , they may have some left over , you can always get the relavent Garmin unit as used for a reasonable price and the bracket and loom bits which should be listed as spares in the volvo parts listings ..
