Help with the alarm system on a 855 t5 from 1995
Hello, a couple months back I bought an 850 from 1995, which came with a switch to turn off the alarm.
Today I went to turn it on, and it immediately went off, beeping and flashing the hazard lights. What can cause this? How can I fix it? The alarm is a 3542744, it even has Volvo written on it. |

Pull the relay from under the steering wheel (drop the trim & its tucked up under ) get a known good working spare ( matching numbers) & try that.
There are a fair few problems that could cause the alarm to go faulty- but the relay is a good place to start. Good luck! Morgan |

That is the control box for the ultrasound sensors which should be located up on the A pillar near the roof. Look like microphones.
You could unplug them from the relay (210 211) . The plug is on top of the relay a green one. That way the alarm still works but only monitors the doors, hood, trunk/tailgate and if someone tryies to jump start the car. Keep in mind that this Guard Alarm system can only be activated or deactivated by the remote and not by key. Means if you locked the car by remote and open it by key the alarm will go off and deactivate the starter motor. |
